The password I have for the utility DMSSCHED in a particular DMS site for some reason does not work.  It has worked in the past.  Does anyone know how this password is derived?  Some of our DMS switches use the same password for DMSSCHED..  Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

Never mind, the light bulb went on finally.  It's somehow based on the office parameter LOG_OFFICE_ID in table OFCVAR.  If I figure out the formula, I'll let you know.

At some point a higher up person (from me) wanted to change the LOG_OFFICE_ID after all these years due to some accounting nonsense.   So changing that parameter affected the password.  I think it also affect SOC passwords, if I remember correctly.

On a similar note, I have a customer who has forgotten their DMSSCHED passwords - does anybody know how to reset this (without having to refer it to Nortel)?

Any help much appreciated.

It's not something that is reset, but based on two office parameters.  I have looked at the pattern, but can not figure it out.  The two office parameters are:

LOG_OFFICE_ID
OFFICE_CLLI_NAME

Two of my DMSSCHED passwords are the same, but the office CLLIs and LOG_OFFICE_ID are dissimilar so I don't know how to derive it.

Below are passwords for some of my DMS switches.  As a longshot, you may want to try those:

ZCUVBYFY
ILDOTQFH
SVNMNKFR
CFXKHEFB
NQINDAFM
LOGDZWFK
VYQBTQFU
RUMHLIFQ
YBTQZWFX
ADVADAFZ

Nortel use a proprietry password generator through UNIX using the following process:
Unix Windown:
>HPMUNCH
**********************************************************
* HPMUNCH - Compute Feature Patch Password - Version 5.0 *
* Northern Telecom, Inc.
**********************************************************
Enter the Feature Patch ID :
For the Feature Patch ID enter DMSSCHED
Then enter the OFFICE_CLLI_NAME & LOG_OFFICE_ID when prompted.
Then enter an expiry date for the password, the end of the month is usually sufficient.

The password will then be provided in the Unix window.

So I suspect there is more than one password per Clli / Office id sitting there ready to go.

Carrie.

Many thanks Mountain, Carrie et al,

I managed to get my hands on "WINMUNCH" & the password was indeed RUMHLIFQ, which was one of the one's Mountain mentioned!

Thanks again for your assistance! Smiley

Have a great weekend!

Rgds, Mick
