Trunks interfacing with a DMS switch
Jun 12th, 2017 at 2:40pm

I have this issue with DMS trunks interfacing to a Metaswitch.  At 2:00 AM each morning the DMS will run an audit on SS7 DS0s asking the Metaswitch what the status (idle, unequipped, transient) is for CICs.  In the DMS, there is a log stating the far end shows certain CICs as unequipped and the DMS puts those DS0s into lockout.  I am not sure if it is a Metaswitch issue since we have a similar issue on trunks to a SONUS switch.  Maybe it is a VOIP issue.

Here is what I know:
1. Each issue is connected to a VOIP switch.
2. The DS0s involved are always on a SPM in the DMS.
3. When those DS0s are posted in the DMS and a TRKQRY command is executed, the far end shows the CIC as idle.

Any insight is appreciated.

We have MetaSwitch SS7 links and trunks with the 5ESS, I have access to the MetaSwitch but not the 5E.  I'll get someone to take a look at the 5E side and see what state the CIC's are in.

Well, the 5E guys don't seem to be in a rush to get back to me.

I ran ICOT (continuity tests) on one of the MetaSwitch ISUP Circuit Groups to the 5E and it came back as passed.

I recommend you locate the ISUP Circuit Group in the MetaSwitch with the problematic CIC's reported from the DMS and run ICOT tests on the MetaSwitch side to see what it reports.

If I ever get confirmation from the 5E I'll let you know.

If you want screen shots where to look in the MetaSwitch let me know.

This is the log I saw shortly after 2:00 AM switch time when the CIC audit runs.

XXXXXXNMDS0     C7UP109 MAR14 02:00:09 3521 INFO CQ STATE CHANGE
        CKT XXXXX_VOIP_4020 7195
        REPORTING CKT XXXXX_VOIP_4020 7195
REASON = TK MARK FAR END UNEQ
        CIC =  7195

I interpret the log as stating the DMS launches a query to the far end requesting the state of the DS0.  The far end says it is unequipped and the DMS places the DS0 into lockout.  The METASWITCH issue magically cleared after contacting the CLEC (though they claim nothing was done), but the connection to the SONUS is still problematic.  The SONUS folks are not able to provide any info.

This problem was solved a while back and I neglected to update.  The SONUS people removed the CICs and added them back in on their end. Problem solved so it was a SONUS software issue.  I had removed the CICs in the DMS and added them back in previously  without any relief.
