Has anyone removed the patches that changed the access procedure for using toolsup commands?

Can you elaborate on what the issue is?

I recently replaced a ddu and had to use toolsup for access to disk allocation tools.

Access to the tools was the same.

(Depending on your load...) Advise it may have something to do with a roll out of (act) patch jnh69. Please see bulletin below.

New Secure Access Method for TOOLSUP protected tools delivered via Patch JNH69
BULLETIN ID: 00011284 PUBLISHED: 2017-12-07

To my knowledge there is no way around it w/o an S&SP thru Ribbon. My albeit limited experience on this topic is Ribbon will NOT remove the patch, nor can telco. The new passwords are 16 characters and can only be acquired and/or regenerated thru a tool on Ribbon's Support web site.

Thanks for the reply.

Any idea what happens if the telco attempts to remove the patch?

We had requested a patch audit for a trbl case. The jnh69 patch appeared resultant that audit. Very shortly after the audit we discovered the inability to access toolsup. My recollection is we attempted to remove it and it gave a bunch of errors. So we called Ribbon and were advised it couldn't/wouldn't be removed and there was a necessity going forward of the S&SP for toolsup password acquisitions.

LOL.  I sure am glad I am out of this business.  Initially, we prevented the patch from being applied in the first place.  Not sure if Ribbon has forced telcos to apply it.  In any event,  tell Ribbon it is your flipping switch and remove it.  Of course, they may refuse to provide future support.

FYI, there are other companies that will be more than happy to support your DMS/s with better service, better support and save you money.

The rub is they need the same access to TOOLSUP.

I know ex-Nortel designers that might be able to break that code.  Wink
